Percival Graves first appears in the film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016), portrayed by Colin Farrell. He is initially presented as a high-ranking Auror and Director of Magical Security for MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America).
However, the true identity of this character is revealed to be Gellert Grindelwald in disguise. Grindelwald, one of the most powerful and dangerous Dark wizards of all time, had used Polyjuice Potion to assume Graves' appearance.
As Graves, Grindelwald manipulated events within the American wizarding community, seeking to expose magic to the No-Maj (non-magical) world and recruit Credence Barebone for his own nefarious purposes. His impersonation was ultimately uncovered by Newt Scamander.
